A Bit of Background
I strive to be the very best in every aspect of my work.
Having come from a background steeped in the Canadian jazz music and education scene, I have witnessed some of the greatest players of their instruments first hand on and off stage from a very young age. Rarely have I run into a performer, jazz or otherwise, whose behavior warranted such negativity as is applied to many by the backstage culture. With such an observation in mind I always go into a show knowing that I am and always will be a secondary service, serving the performer. Nobody needs sound folks or lighting designers to hear great music, so why should we techs place ourselves on such a high pedestal that we are more important than the person reaching out to their audience? We shouldn't. I do not, and that is surely one of the many reasons I can establish a trusting and cheerful rapport with most performers I serve. More often than not, I come away from a show with a smile on my face, feeling satisfied if not mystified by what I had the pleasure to be a part of, no matter how many hours I worked.
There's a brief intro to who I am as a tech, if you want to know more or something more off topic, please contact me and ask anything you want. For more depth on my areas of expertise, have a look at the Services section. Enjoy the rest of the site, and have a good day!
